Ukulele
Playing a musical instrument can be a lot of fun and can help us express our feelings. One fantastic instrument that many people love is the ukulele. In Year 4, we begin to learn how to play the Ukulele. Miss Weber is teaching us different chords, strumming patterns and songs in our Friday music lessons.
What is a Ukulele?
The ukulele is a small string instrument that looks a bit like a tiny guitar. It usually has four strings, which means it’s not too difficult to play. Imagine strumming a gentle sound, like a warm breeze on a sunny day – that’s what the ukulele can do!
Why Learn the Ukulele?
- Fun and Enjoyment: Playing the ukulele can be really enjoyable! You can play happy songs, cheer up your friends, or even make your own music. It’s like having your own superpower that can bring joy to others.
- Develop Skills: Learning to play the ukulele helps improve important skills. For example:
- Listening: You learn to listen carefully to the notes and rhythms in music.
- Coordination: Your fingers will get better at moving quickly and accurately to play the chords
- Teamwork: You can play with friends, which promotes cooperation, sharing, and making music together.
Both our Year 5 and Year 6 classes carry on learning to play the Ukulele with Mr Mann to build on their skills and knowledge from year 4. The children will learn to play more complicated chords and songs.
