Our Vision

"A different language is a different vision of life".

Federico Fellini

Increasingly language competence and intercultural understanding are not optional extras; they are an essential part of being a citizen, helping to improve understanding not just between people within the school's community but also those in the wider world; at the same time supporting pupil's perception of themselves as a global citizen by breaking down barriers of ignorance and suspicion between people and nations, as well as living respectfully in a culturally diverse world and contribute positively to their community.

The skills, knowledge and understanding gained through learning a new language make a major contribution to the development of pupil's oracy and literacy as well as their understanding of their own culture and those of others. Language lies at the heart of ideas about individual identity and community, and through learning other languages pupils gain not only a new perspective on their own identity, but an increased understanding that of others as well.
