Our Vision

At College Road Primary School, our vision for music is that we will nurture a love of music and appreciation for different styles, times and cultures.

We believe that we are all born with the same capacity for developing musically and we will do everything we can to draw music out of children, whilst teaching them essential musical skills, knowledge and understanding. We want to ensure equality of opportunity for all, considering each child's background, experience, abilities and needs.

To do this, we will provide them with some truly memorable musical experiences with a wide range of musical outcomes and encourage all children to take a creative and active part in all aspects of music like composing, performing, listening and appraising.

As a values-based school, we are providing an environment during music lessons that enables children to collaborate, to build their resilience by using determination and patience, to express freedom, and to experience curiosity, happiness and unity.

As our school ethos states, in music we are 'learning together to be the best we can be', by creating opportunities to perform in a range of venues to different audiences, we celebrate their achievements as composers and performers and we provide the children with ample opportunities to be creative. We really want children to leave our school knowing that music can be a joyful and wonderful part of life and hope that this will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
