Eco Group

At College Road, our values mean we want to look after the world around us. Our Eco Group leads the school’s efforts to care for our local area and beyond. The Eco Group includes two representatives from each class in Years 1-6; these are children who are passionate about looking after the environment and lead by example.

In our first Eco Group meeting, the children came up with a huge list of ideas of actions that we could take as a school. To help them achieve these goals, we have signed up for several projects to focus our campaigning and actions.

Clean Our Patch

College Road Primary School is a Clean Our Patch Ambassador. Clean Our Patch is a local organisation which is dedicated to litter picking across Plymouth. They have provided us with litter picking equipment in school, which is used by both Eco Group and classes. We are also able to loan litter picking equipment over the school holidays – please contact the office if you would like to request a loan.

Plastic Free Schools

Eco Group is especially enthusiastic about reducing plastic waste. We have signed up with Surfers Against Sewage’s Plastic Free Schools campaign to help us reduce single-use plastics within our school community.

Let’s Go Zero

Eco Group are also concerned about pollution and climate change. We have joined the Let’s Go Zero campaign, and will be focusing on different targets over the coming years with the aim of being a zero carbon school by 2030.
