Welcome

College Road School is a foundation school and a school which focusses on encouraging positive values to all of our school community, via the Values Based Education movement. We have many partners who we work with closely; other maintained schools, especially St. Andrews Primary School, the Local Authority, RiO, PAPH, Co-operative College and The Excellence Cluster. We all work together to improve standards. Our school also works with a very wide range of partners from both the education sector and beyond, to improve the lives and learning of the children and families of the school.

We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. This web site aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils. We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school direct (details on the contact page) with any queries you may have.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse. Our school will take part in the project that will run jointly between schools and Devon and Cornwall Police. Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident. Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff, known as a Key Adult, is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.

Latest from the Headteacher

Welcome to College Road Primary School. The information contained within our school website is designed to give you some useful information about our school. I hope it answers some of your initial questions and begins to give you a flavour of what life is like at our school.

We aim to provide a safe, caring environment in which each child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. As a values-based school, we encourage children to embrace positive human values that will help them to be the best person they can be. We work hard as a school team to create an exciting and stimulating climate for good teaching and learning to take place. We have developed a varied and exciting curriculum that is well matched to the needs and interests of the children of College Road. Our aim as a school is to inspire and engage your children and develop their skills as lifelong learners.

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular lunchtime and after school clubs which have included football, netball, rugby, chess, badminton, languages, recorders, drawing, sewing, healthy eating, hockey, cricket, reading, gardening, choir, first aid, lego and coding.

If you would like to discuss anything with me, or your child’s class teacher, please do not hesitate to come in. Regular updates of what we are up to can be found on the schools Facebook page.

Throughout the year, events are held at which we greatly appreciate parental support.  If you find that you have some spare time, we would be grateful for your help with small groups of children, for example with cooking, doing art activities, helping on trips and hearing children read.  If you feel you can help, please contact your child’s teacher or teaching assistant, Miss O’Connor, Mrs Muldoon or Mrs Brown in the school office or myself.

We look forward to working with you.
